Do not forget to take a look online and check newspaper ads as well. For temporary accommodation, the local tourist offices are good places to start. Katharina and Thomas came to eastern Upper Styria to study materials science. After graduating, they both quickly found employment at Böhler Bleche Edelstahl in Kapfenberg. Subsidies by the Province of Styria
Refurbishment
If buildings largely have to be replaced, (partial or complete new construction), this type of refurbishment may be eligible for subsidies. Depending on the specifics of the project, funds are provided in the form of an annuity subsidy of up to 30 % or a subsidy of 20 % of the eligible costs.
Subsidies for district heating connections
Connections to a highly efficient, alternative district heating network are subsidised with a one-off grant. The aim is to switch to a sustainable, regional heat supply.
Barrier-free and age-appropriate housing
Converting flats and residential buildings to make them barrier-free is subsidised with up to 30% of the eligible costs – or even with up to €50,000 in the case of documented reduced earning capacity. Age-appropriate living with a better quality of life.
Adaptive reuse of historically significant architectural monuments
Precious architecture is worth saving. For listed buildings, there is a grant of up to €22,000 (subsidy amount of 10% of the recognised costs relevant to listed buildings) or a low-interest state loan (up to a maximum of 50% of the recognised costs relevant to listed buildings or €150,000 at most). Double solar power
For solar thermal collector systems, there is a subsidy of up to €300 per square metre (max. 20 m²). In addition there is a nationwide solar bonus (€2,500). This means that solar power pays off twice over – for the environment and your wallet.

rAUS AUS ÖL UND GAS
Due to the great success of previous years, the “Raus aus Öl und Gas” (“Get out of oil and gas”) funding campaign will be continued for a further two years as part of the nationwide refurbishment campaign.
Renovation Bonus for Multi-Story Residential Buildings
Only building owners listed in the land registry may apply for comprehensive renovation. Funding is available for thermal renovations of buildings that are more than 15 years old at the time of application (date of building permit) and contain at least three separate residential units prior to renovation. The funding is provided in the form of a one-time, non-repayable investment cost grant and is limited to a maximum of 30% of the eligible investment costs.
Renovation Bonus for Single-Family, Two-Family, and Townhouses
These funds for the Residential Renovation Bonus are available exclusively to private individuals. The program supports thermal renovations in private residential buildings that are more than 15 years old.
