Public transport connections in eastern Upper Styria
Go anywhere, anytime
Public transport is modern and convenient. Trains and buses in our region operate on highly developed schedules. From Bruck an der Mur or Kapfenberg you can travel to Graz and Vienna at least once per hour. This means you can also reach two international airports quickly anytime.
During nighttimes, the night bus takes you home safely. It operates on Saturdays between Trofaiach and Mürzzuschlag. It even runs once per hour between Leoben and Kapfenberg. A smart tip for young people!
Of course you can also travel by car. Our region’s modern highways are linked to the international A9 motorway.
Get anywhere fast – with the region’s optimised public transport schedules
From 15 December 2025, the timetables in eastern Upper Styria will change fundamentally – with the historic commissioning of the brand new Koralm Railway. The Semmering Base Tunnel, which has been under construction since 2012, will also fundamentally upgrade the transport network from December 2030.
This 27.3 km long tunnel connects Lower Austria and Styria and is part of the Baltic-Adriatic transit axis. It will reduce the journey time for express trains from and to Vienna by about 30 minutes! Commuters, holidaymakers and businesses will greatly benefit. At the same time, the rapid commuter train (S-Bahn) and REX services are also being expanded. The aim is to make mobility in the entire region more convenient, faster and more environmentally friendly than ever before.

- Continuous hourly Railjet service Vienna-Bruck-Graz-Villach
