Cycling classics
Two of the most beautiful cycle tracks in Austria lead through eastern Upper Styria. The R2 Mur cycle track and the R5 Mürz valley cycle track combine landscape, culture and enjoyment - perfect for extended day tours or multi-day cycling with stops along the way.
R2 Mur cycle track
Rivers, lakes, imposing Alpine ridges, charming towns and picturesque vineyards – the R2 Mur cycle track presents all of this to you on its route across Styria, from the rocky north to the lovely south. The town of Bruck an der Mur is located on the section from Leoben to Frohnleiten. You should definitely stop and take a look at the old town centre! Stay overnight and sit down for a delicious cappuccino while you admire the marvellous Kornmesserhaus close-up, the artful historic Iron Fountain, the modern town hall with arcaded courtyard, the emblematic Schlossberg and much more.
Mürztalradweg R5
The R5 Mürztal cycle track leads from Neuberg to Bruck an der Mur. The gently sloping route is ideal for the entire family. It offers a little bit of everything: Imposing buildings, museums, idyllic spots to relax, marvellous landscapes and lakes to splash around in. Alpine mountain landscapes, a picturesque valley and urban flair make for a perfectly entertaining mix.
